• RTL (Readiness To Learn

Up until July 2013, Readiness To Learn (RTL) was a state-funded program that had been in existence since 1993. The program lost its funding during the 2013 WA state Legislative session. Quillayute Valley School District chose to continue with the program because of the valuable services it provides the district’s students, families and community members. It is a partnership among schools, public/private health and human service agencies, local Tribes, community partnerships, and local businesses to ensure students are able to reach the high standards that have been set in school reform.

The RTL Quillayute Valley Consortium is made up of representatives from Quillayute Valley School District, Quileute Tribal School and Tribe, Hoh Tribe, West End Outreach Services, Department of Social and Health Services, Forks Abuse Program, Department of Children and Family Services, Sunshine & Rainbows Child Development Center, Clallam County Sheriff’s Department, Forks Police Department, Clallam County Health Department and Forks Community Hospital. The consortium management team operates on a philosophy of needs assessment, collaboration and decision making.

    WHY?

To ensure that ALL students from kindergarten through high school can come to school every day ready to improve their achievement and grow into knowledgeable, competent, healthy adults who can reach their full potential.

Readiness To Learn offers the opportunity for the entire school staff to work together and in collaboration with the community at large to do whatever it takes to get better results for every student. It opens the door to a complete reconsideration of anything that has an impact on students’ academic and life success, from teaching practices and curriculum, to parent involvement in school governance, to health, safety and employment issues in the community and much more!

    HOW?

Readiness To Learn brings effective schooling together with revitalized public services and community involvement in a school/neighborhood location in order to meet the needs of each child and their family while strengthening the whole school community.

HOW DO WE BRING IT ALL TOGETHER?

We bring it together by embracing school-linked services, learning support, youth development, comprehensive integrated services, full-service schools, family support, comprehensive health programs, community development and employment development.
