For us to continue to improve as a school district and as a school, it is important for us to understand stakeholder perceptions about the job we are doing in providing a quality education for all our children. We are seeking information through an 8–10-minute survey that is available now through date May 8th.
To access the survey, visit: https://ceeffectiveness.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_74KBAjdemxMiTVs
o Choose your language preference on the opening page of the survey.

At approximately 11:28 a.m., the Forks Police Department confirmed that there was no threat to students at Forks Elementary School or any of our schools. Out of an abundance of caution, buildings had been placed in lockdown, and that status was safely lifted at 11:30 a.m.
The situation began with a handwritten note found in a common sink area at Forks Elementary School. This matter is being taken seriously, and an investigation is ongoing. Appropriate administrative procedures and any necessary consequences, in alignment with the law, will be followed.
We understand that lockdowns can be unsettling. Please know that student and staff safety guided every decision made today, and we are grateful for the cooperation and care shown throughout our schools.
If your student would like additional support, we encourage you to reach out to their teacher, counselor, or principal.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff will always remain our highest priority.
Sincerely,
Diana Reaume
At approximately 10:28 a.m., we received information at the Forks Elementary School of a potential safety threat to the campus. To ensure the safety of all students and staff members, we placed all schools in lockdown. The local police were contacted and we are working through our safety protocol and will keep you informed as we learn more.
Since all students and staff are in lockdown, we will not release any students until cleared for safety.
Sincerely,
Diana Reaume

The SmileMobile is Coming to Forks!
March 16-20 and 23-27, 2026
¡SmileMobile llega a Forks!
16 - 20 y 23 - 27 de marzo de 2026

This week we celebrate the incredible classified staff who keep our schools running every single day.
From the friendly bus drivers who start and end students’ days safely, to the food service teams who make sure no child learns on an empty stomach. From the custodial and maintenance crews who keep our buildings clean, safe, and welcoming, to the office professionals who keep everything organized and moving. We also recognize our preschool staff who help our youngest learners begin their school journey, our health services staff who care for students’ well-being, the technology teams who keep our systems connected and running, the instructional support staff who work side-by-side with teachers to support student learning every day, supervisory staff who watch over playgrounds, cafeterias, hallways, during daily transitions to help keep students safe, and the student support staff who help every child feel seen, supported, and successful.
Our schools simply could not function without you. Your dedication, hard work, and care for students make a difference every day.
Thank you for everything you do for our students, our staff, and our community. 💙💛
Quillayute Valley Families,
The Forks Middle School Predesign Committee, made up of parents, staff, and community members, is gathering feedback from families on replacing the aging Forks Middle School building. Please take a moment to share your thoughts and feedback in this 5-minute survey.
Forks Middle School was built in 1954. Through collaborative meetings beginning in September, the committee found that the 72 year-old building has significant structural needs and that fully fixing the building through a remodel would cost more than rebuilding. As a result, the group is primarily considering a full school rebuild and is seeking input on priorities for the facility.
Issues at the aging Forks Middle School building include:
- Campus Security: Students walk outdoors between four separate buildings throughout the school day. The school has multiple entrances that could be consolidated and more effectively secured.
- Drop-off Safety: The school drop-off and pick-up area on Spartan Avenue creates traffic and pedestrian safety concerns.
- Roof & Drainage: Roof and drainage systems have reached the end of their useful life. Despite regular maintenance, some drains, windowsill trims, and structural walls show signs of water and weather damage.
- Electrical System: Classroom electrical outlets are insufficient for today’s learning technology.
- Heating System: The electric heating system is more than 37 years old.
The committee will continue to share updates on the facilities webpage. If you haven’t already, please also follow Quillayute Valley School District’s new Facebook page for up-to-date information and school stories.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and helping guide the future of our schools!

The Facebook page will serve as an additional space to share district news, updates, events, and highlights from our schools, alongside our regular communication through the QVSD App.
We look forward to partnering with our families and community to support student success!
