cell phone

Dear FHS Families,

We want to inform you about the new school board policy regarding cell phone use during instructional periods. Effective immediately, students are prohibited from using cell phones during class time. This policy aims to maximize instructional time and minimize classroom disruptions, ensuring a focused learning environment for all students. Please see QVSD School Board Policy No 3245 and No 3245P Students for more details.

Cell Phone Policy Letter

What You Can Do:

We recommend that you monitor your child’s phone usage and have a conversation with them about the importance of this policy. Additionally, placing time restrictions on your child’s phone during school hours will help reinforce the importance of staying focused during class.

Policy Guidelines and Consequences:

First Offense: The teacher will remind the student of the expectation, giving them a warning and asking that the phone be put out of sight or placed in a location determined by the teacher.
Second Offense: The phone will be taken to the office, and a phone call will be made to the parent/guardian.
Third Offense: This will result in a major discipline referral, which may lead to the student being prohibited from bringing their phone to school for a specified period, depending on the situation.

Permitted Use:
Students are allowed to use their phones before and after school, as well as during lunch.

We believe these guidelines will support a positive learning environment, allowing your child to make the most of their time in the classroom. We appreciate your cooperation and support in implementing this policy.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Sincerely,

Brenda King
