On 12/14/25, five FHS speech and debate team members competed at Union High School in Vancouver, WA (accompanied by judges Shelly Martin, Chris Vessey, and myself).
This tournament (entitled the Titan Fall Invitational), hosted 12 schools, and 102 competitors.
Our team was in very high spirits yesterday evening after a full day of competing rounds, placing as follows:
Patricia Calderon-Weed taking FIRST place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate
Jlynn Vessey taking FIRST place in Spoken Word Poetry
Trent Prose taking FIRST place in Humorous Interpretation
Trentston Pope competed in Impromtu, and Isabella Hayworth competed in Novice Spoken Word Poetry.
This is such an amazing feat for our brand new team! They are all working incredibly hard and it shows! I am beyond proud of the passion they bring to these events and how this team lifts each other up in the hard moments and celebrates the successes of others. They showed the utmost posivity throughout the entirety of Saturday's competition and are looking forward to further competitions.
