Thank you to all of you for your partnership with teachers this week during conferences, and throughout the year! You are and continue to be your child’s first and most important teacher.
Today we had a wonderful assembly with a group of Aztec Dancers. It was a fantastic experience of dancing and celebrating their culture. If you and your family are interested in watching them perform tomorrow, they will be performing in the FHS Aux gym at 1:00.
Next week is Red Ribbon Week! This campaign is celebrated nationwide to help promote drug awareness to school-aged kids. It focuses on how to identify drugs and the negative effects they can have on our bodies and in our lives. This year's theme is "Be a Hero, Stay Drug Free". Dress up day flyers went home and will be shared again.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Reading Night last night! What a great evening of learning focused fun!
Making sure your child attends school every day is one of the best ways you can support their academic success at school. I am so excited to say that 45% of our students have perfect attendance this month! That’s amazing!
Parent Teacher conferences are next week, Oct. 19-23. Monday will be a full day, and Tuesday through Friday will be half days. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 Tuesday through Friday.
Our book fair will be next week as well! Your child should have a flyer for you, and I will attach them as well.

On Friday, we celebrated RESPECT at our Puddle Jumper Assembly and wore neon! We have so many students who show respect every day. Thank you, families, for instilling this trait in your children!
As the weather shifts to fall, please make sure you are dressing your child for the weather.
If you haven’t already downloaded the Rooms app on your phone, please do. This is one of the primary ways your teachers communicate with you, and a way you can also communicate with them.

Friday, Oct. 2, is our first PTO sponsored Donut Day! Families are invited to come have a donut with their child from 8:00-8:35. Thank you to our amazing PTO for all they do to bring joy to our Puddle Jumpers!

For safety reasons, the red zone in the front of the building is not a drop off zone- it is for emergency vehicles only. Use the yellow zone or park when you are dropping our students off.
For student safety, only staff are permitted to be on the playground during school hours, from 8:00-4:30.
If your child eats breakfast at school, please remind them that they need to eat breakfast before they go outside in the morning.
The lost and found will be cleaned out this weekend. Please check or have your child check for missing clothes.

Playground update: Beginning Monday, September 28, groundwork for the ball fields will begin. We will continue to utilize both playgrounds, and both sheds, ensuring that our students have enough room to play during recess. The football field is available for us to use, and we will coordinate its usage for recess with the playground staff. Safety is our #1 priority, as always, and the area of construction will be safely blocked from student access.
Once the fields are complete, our students will again have access to the fields during recess. Reach out to Sarah Decker with any questions or concerns you have. Thank you for your continued support and partnership with FES!
Congratulations to the following classes for having whole class perfect attendance: Teacher Shandra, Teacher Deisy, Mrs. Kerr and Mr. Isely’s 4th grade and earning a potato chip party with Mr. Potato Head!
When you pick up your child at the end of the day, we encourage you to use the yellow zone. You may park and pick up your child if you prefer.
All adults other than staff must enter the building through the front entrance. This is for student safety.
Thank you to the families who participated in our Title One Parent Engagement meeting last night. The Title One Policy and Compact for the year will be posted on our webpage .Please reach out with input and feedback on these documents before Oct. 2. Tomorrow, September 17, 5:30 pm-6:30 pm, FES will be holding our Title I Parent and Family Engagement Meeting in the
Forks Elementary School Library. During this meeting, Mrs. Decker will share how our school gets extra help through our Title I Services and how we use this funding to support students. You will be able to ask questions, share ideas, and work with the school to help kids succeed. Hope to see you there!

A New Way to Stay Connected About Attendance!
At Quillayute Valley School District, we're always looking for ways to improve communication and make it easier for families to stay informed. We're excited to introduce Apptegy Attendance Pro, a new way for us to communicate with you about your student's attendance.
Beginning Monday, September 14th, Attendance Pro will be our first morning notification when your student is marked with an unexcused absence from school.
📱 Here's what makes Attendance Pro exciting: You can reply directly to the text message with information about your student's absence. Your response will be shared with our attendance staff, making it easier for you to quickly provide details about why your student is absent.
At the end of the school day, if an absence still needs to be excused, families will receive a notification through Apptegy Alerts, which is our current method for absence notifications.
📞 Please make sure we have your current phone number on file! If you need to update your phone number or would like to add a cell phone number to your student's records, please contact your child's school building. Having an up-to-date phone number will help ensure you receive these important attendance notifications.

Good evening, elementary school families!
We are so excited to welcome your child tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 1, for the first day of school. Doors will open at 8:00. You are welcome to walk your child to their room and visit with them while they have breakfast. Please stay off the playground for student safety.
Class begins at 8:40. After 8:40, you need to check in at the office if you are coming on campus and get a visitor's pass.
We are full days all week, Tuesday- Friday, 8:40-3:15.
If you need to make go home arrangements, call the office before 2:30, so we have time to get notes to students.
If your child is being picked up in the yellow zone, the office needs to know who will be picking them up for student safety.
Kindergartners may not get off the bus without an adult at the stop, so make sure someone is there and ready when the bus arrives after school.
Please call the office tomorrow morning after 7:30 if you have any questions.

Tomorrow, the staff at FES will be opening our doors from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm to welcome your students to the new year!
Class lists will be posted on the doors tomorrow.
TK and kindergarten students start with Popsicles on the Playground from 4:00-4:30.
Principal welcome will be in the gym at 4:45 pm.
This is a great opportunity for your child to meet their teacher and drop off their supplies.
We will have the following offerings available:
Thrillshare set up and support;
Skyward contact information update;
A wide variety of school supplies generously collected by the Clallam Bay Correction Center Employees Association will be available in the cafeteria.
An immunization clinic will be open at Forks Middle School.
