This week, students practiced how to evacuate the building in case of fire. We practice different drills every month, so kids have an idea of what to expect it there were an actual emergency. They did a GREAT job!
PTO sponsored Donut Day this morning, and what a wonderful turn out! THANK YOU, PTO, for all you do to bring joy to our school!
A friendly reminder that our bus loop is gated, so if you are coming onto campus, you will need to use the front parking lot.
Coming up next week: Early Release on Wednesday, October 1. Students will be dismissed at 2:15. On Friday, October 3, we will be having our first Puddle Jumper Assembly of the year, where we will celebrate students who show respect. Families, please remind your students not to share food in the cafeteria and only eat their lunch. Some students have allergies, and we want to make sure we are keeping students safe.
Next week, we will have an Early Release on Wednesday, with students being dismissed at 2:15 and on Friday morning, join your child for a donut at our PTO sponsored Donut Day, from 8:00-8:30. Thank you, PTO, for all you do for our students!

We had a great week at the elementary school! Students are getting back into the routine of the school day and what it means to be a safe, respectful and responsible student. In the next couple of days, or maybe even already, your child will be bringing home two letters, one from the counselor and one about our Character Strong social emotional screener. I will also add them in the Rooms’ app in the parents zone folders.
Upcoming events:
Tuesday, September 16, our nurse will be facilitating a hearing and vision clinic on campus for our students.
Wednesday, September 17, will be an early release day. Students are dismissed at 2:15 pm.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sarah Decker, principal of Forks Elementary School

What a wonderful first week of school! It has been fantastic to see and meet all of your children this week. In every classroom I walk into, I see students engaged in get to know you activities, learning expectations, and jumping into math, reading and writing!
Thank you to all of our families who have already signed up with our Rooms app, so you can stay connected with the school and your child’s teacher. We love our partnership with families, and using the Rooms app is one way to have two way communication. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact Lindsey Wallerstedt at 360-374-6262 ext. 267.
Your child gets one permanent pass as their go-home plan. If your child will be going somewhere else, you will need to let the office know. You may send notes for up to one week at time.
Yellow zone- Your child’s name and teacher, and the name of the person picking your child up
Bus- Your child’s name and teacher, and the PHYSICAL address of where your child will be going. If your child is a preschooler or kindergartener riding the bus, they will not be able to get off the bus without an adult.
Coming up next week:
WEDNESDAY, Sept. 10: Early Release, students dismiss at 2:15 pm
If you haven’t already, ask your child this afternoon what they are most looking forward to in the upcoming school year.

FES Families,
Last spring we shared that we would be shifting to a new communication platform this fall. Beginning this year, we will no longer be using Class Dojo. To simplify communication for families with students in multiple buildings—or transitioning from one school to another—we are moving to Rooms.
In the spring, you received an email with instructions and your personalized code to connect. If you did not receive this email, please contact us so we can assist you.
In this email, you will see your child’s name and a ‘Magic Code.’ Once you have your child’s ‘Magic Code’, you can sign up for Rooms.
Go to id.edurooms.com/signup
3. Once the page opens, enter the Magic Code that came in your email.
4. Fill out the form to finish setting up the account.
5. After you have created your account, the easiest way to access Rooms will be through the QVSD app.
Downloading the QVSD app. This is a free app that you can search for it in the Play Store and App Store. You can also access it using the QR codes linked.
Download for iPhone https://aptg.co/fDcHsN
Download for Android https://aptg.co/yp0PmS
We will also be providing onsite support to help families get connected at our Back to School Event on August 28.
Thank you for partnering with us as we make this transition to better support consistent communication across the district. We at FES love the communication connections between you and your child’s teacher, and we look forward to continuing our communication using Rooms.
Sincerely,
Sarah Decker, principal of FES

TK families, all supplies are provided, so no list is needed.
